Backup numbers
Backup numbers protect your WhatsApp groups. If your main number is blocked or banned from a group, you lose access permanently unless another admin is present. Backup numbers are added as group admins so you always keep control.
A backup number does not need to be connected to BatZap. Any trusted WhatsApp number works.
How backup numbers work
When you create a new group, all active backup numbers are pre-selected and added as group administrators. You can deselect any of them for a specific group without changing your backup list.
Add a backup number
- Go to Settings → Backup Numbers.
- Enter the phone number in the field (any format works).
- Click "Add Backup Number".
Manage backup numbers
Each number in the list has an Auto-Add toggle:
- On: the number is automatically added as an admin to every new group.
- Off: the number stays in your list but is not added automatically. You can still select it when creating a group.
Use the delete action to remove a number from the list.
The footer shows a summary, for example how many numbers are registered and how many have auto-add enabled.
Good to know
⚠️ Backup numbers are added when a group is created. Existing groups are not updated automatically.
💡 Deselecting a backup number while creating a group only affects that group. It stays in your backup list for future groups.
