Creating and managing WhatsApp groups
BatZap lets you create and manage WhatsApp groups directly from the dashboard, including members, admins, and the invite link.
Create a group
- Click "Start New Conversation" and choose "Group".
- Enter a Group Name (required) and optionally upload a Group Photo.
- Optionally add participants by searching contacts or typing a phone number. You can also create an empty group and add people later with the invite link.
- Type the Initial Message that will be sent when the group is created.
- Click "Start Conversation".
⚠️ Newly connected numbers cannot create groups right away. If you see "Group creation is blocked for newly-connected numbers", wait the amount of time shown in the message and try again. This is a WhatsApp anti-ban protection.
Manage members
Open the group and use the group panel on the right:
- Members ({count}) lists everyone. Use "Add" to add a contact or a typed number.
- Open a member's menu to "Make group admin", "Dismiss as admin", or "Remove" them.
- Admins are marked with a "Group admin" badge.
Group name, description, and photo
Edit the group name and description in the panel, then click "Save Changes". Click the group avatar to update the group photo.
Invite link
The "Group link" section holds the join link. Use the copy button to copy it or the share button to share it.
⚠️ If you see "Could not get the group link. Make sure the number is an admin", the connected number needs to be a group admin to fetch the link.
Leave a group
Click "Leave Group" in the panel and confirm. The group is removed from your Inbox.
Backup numbers in groups
When creating a group, your active backup numbers are pre-selected and added as group admins, so you keep control even if your main number is blocked. You can deselect any of them for a specific group. See Backup numbers.
